Job Brief
The Senior Business Systems Analyst serves as the liaison between the business community and the technical development team(s) who support the systems the community uses. This position is a member of the Enterprise Work Management Solutions team, responsible for the enterprise asset and work management applications, specifically Maximo and other related solutions. This person is responsible for ensuring that business needs, related to those systems, are clearly understood, documented and met. The Senior Business Systems Analyst will work closely with business system users, subject matter experts and technical resources to support business requirement efforts, document functional requirements and design specifications and support development and testing efforts. This individual must possess solid business acumen, strong oral and written communication skills, flexibility, self-motivation, and stakeholder management skills. They also must have the ability to bridge the business/IT divide in a way that establishes rapport, persuades stakeholders and gains understanding and trust.
Job Responsibilities
- Elicits, analyzes, specifies, and validates the business needs of stakeholders.
- Creates documentation ensuring that the requirements and design are complete, consistent, concise, traceable, feasible, unambiguous, and verifiable.
- Conducts internal and external research to gain a better understanding of the project’s subject area.
- Conducts meetings and presentations to all levels of stakeholders to share ideas and findings and to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted.
- Manages and tracks the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforce and redefine as necessary.
- Research, reviews, and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
- Performs as a Project Leader and is responsible for planning, scheduling and monitoring projects.
- Work collaboratively with departments to effectively communicate progress and performance.
- Identify trends and root cause of challenges, determines solutions, and makes recommendations for management consideration.
- Document key content deliverables i.e., Requirements and Functional Design documents, Test Cases/Scripts and Training Materials.
Education
Experience
Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years experience at Level 1 and demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of 3 years experience at Level 2, is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.
Additional Information
- At least 3 years experience as a Business/Systems Analyst with hands-on experience with requirements documentation and facilitating/interviewing stakeholders to extract and validate user requirements.
- At least 3 years hands-on experience with Requirements, Design, Construction, Testing and Implementation phases of the software development lifecycle.
- At least 2 years experience with business process modeling.
Experience supporting IBM Maximo 7.x application preferred.
Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
