Summary

Under limited supervision, has responsibility for scheduling normal, preventive and emergency maintenance on generating units and all auxiliary equipment for the valley plants.

 

This position is located at the Gila River Power Station.

What You'll Do

  • Plans, organizes and schedules maintenance work on gas and oil-fired units and gas turbines.
  • Processes work orders and distributes to maintenance foreman. Reviews completed work orders to maintain P.M. program/equipment history accuracy.
  • Responsible for preparation of routine. special reports, keeps records of equipment history and keeps management informed of maintenance progress.
  • Works with warehousing to maintain ample supplies, materials and spare parts in inventory at all times.
  • Checks on progress of regular and unscheduled maintenance work, changed schedule to aid in completion of jobs, monitors progress of outside repair work.
  • Develops workscope for equipment overhaul during scheduled unit outages. Provides contingency plans when required to keep work going smoothly.
  • Assists in planning of maintenance for safe completion of work.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating work involving borrowing SRP or contracted labor during overhauls of major equipment.
  • Prepares vacation forms and schedules, meal drafts, timekeeping reports and other miscellaneous paperwork as required.
  • Coordinates material availability into activity schedule and completes all paperwork and orders materials for electrical/mechanical maintenance departments.
  • Develops cost estimate for specific activities or budgets as required.
  • Compares actual costs and work schedules against estimates.

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Ability to accurately schedule maintenance in coordination with tight plant operating schedules.
  • Ability to re-schedule/coordinate all maintenance jobs and related manpower, equipment and material due to changed job priorities/emergency requirements.
  • Ability to make quick decisions and follow them through the insure minimum down time in case of emergency outage.
  • Ability to work from sketches, prints, and drawings.
  • Appropriate respirator medical certification, fit testing and training required.

Experience

Over 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience as a journeyman or steam plant mechanic, Instrument Tech or Electrician. Familiar with all phases of mechanical and electrical maintenance in a power generating plant.

Education

Minimum of 15 college credits (100+) from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
