Job Brief

Manages maintenance functions for the Santan Generating Station, which includes multiple combined cycle natural gas generating units, to support generation in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner. Maintenance functions include preventative, condition-directed, and reactive maintenance activities, as well as planning, implementing, and overseeing unit maintenance outages, projects, and other assignments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages the activities of assigned staff to ensure the plant’s primary mission of generating safe, reliable, and affordable power is realized.
  • Prioritizes work efforts to improve the safety, reliability, and economics of plant operation and maintenance while ensuring all procedures and standards are followed.
  • Monitors on-site activities and work in progress to ensure reliable performance, efficiency, and productivity of personnel and equipment.
  • Engages in the Asset Health Management Program by providing System Owner coverage and system health guidance, as well as monitoring compliance with Preventative Maintenance requirements.
  • Manages outages and outage-related work processes including scope definition, job planning, resource and material procurement, budget, and overall outage management activities.
  • Directs daily Work Management Committee meetings and weekly planning meetings to manage work order assignments per process guidelines.
  • Develops and manages O&M and capital budgets.
  • Ensures a strong safety culture by demonstrating good safety behaviors and enforcing those behaviors with others, as well as actively participating in the Santan/Kyrene Safety Committee.
  • Serves as plant lead for insurance inspections including responding to information requests and following up on identified action items.
  • Identifies and implements inventory reduction/consolidation opportunities based on part criticality and lead time.
  • Supports training and development of maintenance department, and participates in the implementation of developmental programs (Apprenticeships, Student Interns, etc.).

Education

A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Experience

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience required. In lieu of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 12 years may be considered.

Additional Information

  • Work is completed on a 24/7 basis, 365 days per year. Manager is expected to engage with staff on off-hours as needed to ensure continued reliable operation.
  • Work environment is dynamic. Requires timely decision-making capabilities, as well as ability to engage in strategic thinking and long-range planning.
  • Candidate must possess the knowledge and ability to interface at all levels of the organization through delegation, supervision, coordination, and empowerment.
  • Candidate must possess knowledge of combined cycle natural gas power plant equipment.
  • Responsible for understanding and applying the provisions of the union contract and SRP policies.



Testing and Certifications

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
