Job Brief

SRP (Salt River Project) is looking for a Benefits Analyst to join a dynamic and growing Human Resources team to help take us to the next level of great support for our employees. In addition to joining a team responsible for day-to-day administration of our employee benefit programs, we need your expertise in developing and implementing best in class solutions to our employees’ changing needs and desires.

The SRP Benefits team provides direct support to employees, retirees, and other plan participants by managing our benefit programs, troubleshooting issues, and assisting in the onboarding and offboarding of employees. The Benefits team manages relationships with several benefit vendors, consultants and collaborates with internal departments such as Talent & Acquisition, Compensation, Payroll, Employee Relations, administrative support for SRP’s Board & Council, Accounting, and IT support teams. Our small, dynamic, and effective team connects participants to top tier benefits and services as part of the overall employee total rewards program.

As a Benefits Analyst at SRP you will be responsible for the support and administration of SRP's Health & Welfare benefit plans which include medical, dental, vision, behavioral health, and life and disability. You will use your benefits knowledge & expertise to provide day-to-day support to our employee benefits programs, plan compliance, monthly benefit budget analysis and billing as well as providing outstanding customer service to our employees.

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert and provide excellent customer service to SRP employees and retirees through the timely and accurate resolution of employee benefits inquiries.
  • Answer phones and respond to emails for general employee questions and requests. Assist members in processing life events, and other basic benefits transactions.
  • Administer the offboarding of employees and educate retirees on Retiree medical benefits.
  • Review and work closely with payroll to administer payroll deductions and elections, including support of non-payroll participants.
  • Provide support to ongoing project-related initiatives for SRP's core benefits.
  • Assist in the administration of SRP’s Health and Welfare benefit plans consistent with SRP’s strategy and business plans.
  • Conduct research and analysis and make recommendations for benefit plan enhancement with an understanding of SRP’s key business drivers, costs, stakeholders, and corporate workforce initiatives.
  • Prepare and present reports and findings; clearly communicate information in a relevant, compelling, and actionable manner.
  • Audit existing plans and programs to ensure Regulatory and Welfare plan compliance and update as needed.


Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.


Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years experience at Level 1 and demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor.  Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of 3 years experience at Level 2, is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

Additional Information

  • Possess a strong background in benefits packages, policies, health & welfare benefit plan compliance and administration including knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing ERISA, HIPAA, and COBRA. Ability to work in a team environment with a strong sense of urgency and confidentiality
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem resolution skills (quantitative and qualitative)
  • Proficient in benefit enrollment and HR systems
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Office skills
  • Sensitivity to clients' needs and ability to develop trusted client relationships 
  • Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment


Preferred Knowledge of: 

  • Alight Benefits enrollment system
  • SAP Employee Central, payroll, and accounting modules
  • Knowledge of retiree medical plans, including Medicare
  • Knowledge of financial concepts and analysis, including budget preparation is preferred
