Summary
Has lead responsibility for coordination of specific phases of SRP participation on contract and SRP force account construction projects. Participates in the total project management function directed at producing a functional installation completed on schedule and within budget. Coordinates all phases of engineering design, procurement of materials and services, construction, start-up, and closeout of project.
What You'll Do
- Lead responsibility for coordination within SRP for engineer/contractor design compliance.
- Works jointly with engineer on purchase evaluations and prepares basis for management action.
- Monitors engineer constructor/contractors construction schedule to insure its feasibility and alert upper management of possible problem areas.
- Monitors project cost and maintains complete log of possible cost trends for regular reports to department manager.
- Reviews engineer constructor/contractor compliance with predetermined operating procedures in areas of accounting, insurance, accident claims, etc.
- Prepares routine and special reports designed to inform management in a timely manner of the need for action and decision.
- Monitor construction progress in the field and coordinates activity as required to maintain job progress and adherence to specification.
- Evaluates and prepares basis for management action on SRP managed construction.
- Reviews CPM schedule for engineering, construction, and start-up for diagnostic action required.
- Coordinates and manages SRP force account work and performs contract administration for construction management.
- Coordinates responsible and cost engineers on SRP force account work.
- Responsible for budget preparation for SRP force account work.
What It Takes To Succeed
1. Knowledge of surveying, soils and concrete testing, concrete, structural steel and building codes and standard practices of installation.
2. Knowledge of piping, boiler & pressure vessel codes, instrumentation & insulation design and installation standards and details
3. Knowledge of electrical codes, standards and installation details as applied to generation, transmission, distribution & control systems.
4. Knowledge of SRP standard procedures, standard office systems and procedures & procedures peculiar to a particular project.
5. Project management skills as related to a total project from conception through construction and start-up.
6. Construction mgmt skills as related to contract administration, cost and schedule control.
7. Ability to prepare and implement a project management plan.
8. A working knowledge of CPM and the ability to analyze results.
9. Knowledge of union contracts and craft labor.
10. Knowledge of fossil and hydro power plants and commercial building as related to construction management.
11. A multi-discipline working knowledge of construction methods & practices.
12. The ability to resolve conflict between organizations associated with the project.
Experience
Requires a minimum of seven years of experience. Experience as an engineer or construction in work involving power/water utilities or comparable experience in a construction management organization.
Education
Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
