Summary

The Mechanical Piping Drafting Designer will be responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing the plant design using knowledge of piping layout, piping details and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).  Responsibility includes gathering, reviewing, and finalizing plant requirements, working with required completion dates, and partnering with engineers on mechanical piping.

What You'll Do

  • Designs or assists with design and application of generating facilities in the mechanical and piping systems, knowledge of civil/structural and concrete/structural drawing is a plus. 

  • May be involved with project evaluations, surveys, investigations, studies, estimates, drawings, sketches, work order requests, material requests, notice to proceed project documents. 

  • Provides design package consisting of physical drawings, from own notes or engineering concepts. 

  • Assists in the documentation of division design standards and procedures. 

  • May be required to contact outside agencies such as manufactures and vendors relating to project specifics. 

  • Must be proficient with the latest version of Bentley Systems MicroStation Connect. 

  • Requires out of town travel to SRP generating site. 

Experience

At job entry, placement will be determined by a review of college transcripts and related work experience.  A minimum of 6 years of related experience is required for the senior level.  Once placed into the job family, an employee may become eligible for promotion by demonstrating the ability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by their management and meeting experience requirements.  

Education

College level coursework (100+) from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
