Job Brief

The selected candidate will design electric rates that recover costs, meet financial performance requirements, respond to customer needs and support SRP's balanced resource strategy. You will be responsible for preparing financial justification for rate actions. This role will prepare and analyze contract pricing; corporate performance measurement; retail and wholesale rates; rate adjustments; cost and engineering economic studies; and research and analyze key issues in economics and finance of water and power. you will also provide qualitative and quantitative economic and financial analyses for corporate-wide use.

Job Responsibilities

 

* Define problems, collect data, apply advanced economic and mathematical concepts, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

* Work often requires the analysis of large datasets using complex SAP, Excel, MIDAS or SAS modeling.

* Recommend solutions to new and complex problems, develop innovative strategies, quantify the competitive performance of the organization's operations and/or markets, and evaluate the potential impact of changes.

* Develop financial analyses, models, and systems based on complex operational, economic, market and internal data to develop a suite of potential alternative scenarios.

* Analyze historical financial performance, operations and market information using business software packages and statistical software tools (e.g., SAP, SAS, and advanced Excel work), and develop models to predict future outcomes.

* Develop financial models, and design and perform quantitative studies of historical and forecasted prices.

* Administer electric rate change proceedings and document rate alternative suggestions and management recommendations.

* Prepare cost of service studies and analyzes rates, rate adjustments, rate policy, regulations and other resources contracts.

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Experience

5 years analytical experience in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields preferred.

Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years experience at Level 1 and demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of 3 years experience at Level 2, is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

Additional Information

Bachelor's required with preference for Master's Degree in Business Administration (Accounting, Finance, Quantitative Systems), Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related quantitative disciplines.

This is a telecommuting position, with 2 days a week in-office.


Programming fluency in mainframe and micro-computer applications. Examples: SAP, SAS, SQL, VBA. Strong Excel skills.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other (KSAO):

* Ability to perform multiple assignments concurrently under stress.

* Ability to provide accurate, timely and concrete analysis and recommendations to GM Staff and SRP Board.

* Knowledge of marginal and embedded costing techniques.

* Ability to get along with all levels of employees within SRP.

* Knowledge of electric utility economics.

* Excellent organizational and project management skills.

* Ability to program in SAS and/or SQL.

* Knowledge of SRP's corporate strategies and philosophies.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills.

* Ability to prepare technical reports with corresponding documentation and to make group presentations, including financial system and process user education workshops, and group training.

* Knowledge of the national, regional, and local economies

Hybrid Workplace

 

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week.
