Job Brief

Directly responsible for managing and driving the planning, design, engineering, procurement, construction and close-out activities on high-value, high-visibility and multi-year construction, overhaul and outage projects. Ensures projects are consistent with SRP’s design, cost, schedule, quality criteria, risk mitigation and safety values. Also responsible for development, training and implementation of standard and specific project procedures and reports. Provides operational oversight of staff support functions and requirements for projects. Communicates status and progress to stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for project management activities in support of planned outages, overhauls and complex projects. Project management activities may consist of scoping, planning, regulatory compliance, detailed design, construction, testing and commissioning efforts. This includes directing, assigning, and prioritizing project work plans to meet project objectives and milestones, communicating project deliverables, progress and performance, as well as, recovery or risk mitigation plans.
  • Manages, oversees, and coordinates all aspects of project activities supported by a matrix team consisting of internal departments and external consultants/contractors. Serves as the single point of contact with outside entities including customers and stakeholders.
  • Supports development of study reports, deliverables, work scope, bill of materials, constructability plans, request for proposals, specifications, regulatory compliance and contract documents.
  • Manages the procurement/award of materials and contracted services including consultants, long lead-time equipment, and construction contracts with direct recommendation responsibility.
  • Establishes and monitors the project budget, resources, safety and schedule metrics; and provides team leadership to support schedule, resource, safety and budget performance. Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices. Excellent analytical skills.
  • Proactively communicates project updates to team, management, and other stakeholders while maintaining accurate and up to date records, including project management reports and status updates. Provides visibility to current and potential project risks, scope changes or other deviations from the original requirements or charter.
  • Administers and coordinates the development, implementation, and maintenance of standard processes and procedures for all project stakeholders. Implements continuous improvements or best practices, identifies training and incorporates and disseminates lessons learned.

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in field construction engineering, construction project management, contract administration, construction site management, or other equivalent project management experience for Senior level. Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years of experience at Level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three years of experience at Level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

Additional Information

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. Must be capable of creative problem- solving, balancing competing requirements under pressure, assess competing priorities and communicate a recommended approach. Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful.

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
