Job Brief
Position primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental (air, water, waste) and regulatory requirements for a natural gas-fired power plant. Performs activities related to environmental and regulatory compliance in a technically sound, timely, and cost-effective manner to enable SRP to provide low cost/high value water and energy services. Primary work location will be the Santan Generating Station in Gilbert, AZ.
Job Responsibilities
• Manages overall environmental and regulatory compliance activities for the generating station.
• Performs activities that support compliance demonstrations with regulatory permits/requirements (Title V Air Quality, AZPDES, APP, SWPPP, SPCC, RCRA) including monitoring, QA/QC, record keeping, and reporting.
• Provides reports to plant management on important environmental/regulatory issues.
• Participates in training programs and provides technical assistance to operations, engineering, and maintenance personnel.
• Manages projects to maintain or upgrade systems and equipment associated with environmental/regulatory performance, including coordination and oversight of subcontractors.
• Participates in asset health management activities, environmental testing, compliance inspections, and EHS audits.
• Monitors environmental parameters on a daily basis and addresses issues.
• Prepares formal applications, plans, reports, and submittals related to environmental and regulatory compliance activities.
• Communicates environmental/regulatory performance with external stakeholders, including Santan Neighborhood Committee, through documentation and presentations.
• Manages line-item budget expenditures, including providing multi-year cost projections.
• Provides 24-hour on-call coverage for environmental/regulatory emergencies.
• Assists with special studies as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
Experience
Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years experience at Level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three years experience at Level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.
Additional Information
Occasional travel for specialized training and utility business meetings occasional contact with utility engineers and scientists from other companies and outside agencies. Ability to work effectively using services of various organizational groups within SRP. Effective interpersonal skills to communicate study work and results to high level management. Ability to use complex computer software tools. Ability to discreetly prepare and use proprietary and sensitive information.
