Job Brief
Provides analytical cost controls for high-value and high-profile power delivery infrastructure projects managed by SRP's Strategic System Projects project management organization. Directly supports innovative and challenging transmission line and substation projects for grid-scale battery storage and renewable generation, major economic development and industrial loads, and transmission system expansion. Responsible for financial performance during planning, design/engineering, procurement, and construction to achieve the goals and objectives of the projects.
Job Responsibilities
• Performs as a project cost control leader for major projects.
• Prepares, monitors, and reports on project spending and budgets using computer applications such as SAP, Power BI and other financial programs and tools. Identifies and analyzes variances, corrects discrepancies, and reports to project managers and SRP management.
• Coordinates and facilitates meetings with project management staff and cross-functional teams to review the financial status of projects including trends and concerns.
• Supports procurement of project material and services including preparation of purchase requisitions and processing invoices for services rendered.
• Tracks progress and key performance indicators associated with projects goals and SRP initiatives.
• Collaborates with project management staff to develop financial budgeting, forecasting, and tracking processes, tools and templates.
• Looks for opportunities to innovate and automate reporting tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and response time for project management staff.
• Prepares project close-out reports comparing the actual cost to the estimate and drawing conclusions for variances.
• Develops and maintains historical actual cost database to benchmark unit costs and improve accuracy of future project estimates and budgets.
• Administers and reviews work performed by internal or external project controls staff. Provides basic training when required to new staff.
• Performs complex analytical work such as studies, analyses, surveys and investigations at a fully professional level, requiring substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques and procedures.
• Prepares and/or conducts written and oral reports and presentations.
• Performs project site visits from time to time with project management staff.
• Oversees and provides analysis of hourly rate performance measurement systems as part of an overall project control or maintenance management system.
• Develops, coordinates, maintains cost aspects of project status or maintain management reporting system necessary for control of complex project or processes.
• Supports the project scheduling process by analyzing needs and developing special reporting systems.
• Develops, maintains and coordinates information system requirements.
• Performs and presents results of special studies as required to provide management visibility of key cost/schedule issues.
• Supports other departments and outside agencies requiring engineering or planning data and/or assistance related to planning projects.
Education
Experience
Promotion to level 2 requires a minimum of two years experience at level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to senior level requires a minimum of three years experience at level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities plus successful completion of any additional education and training specified.
