Job Brief

Provide planning, analysis and legal requirements for tax compliance and tax strategies.  Interact with taxing jurisdictions, SRP Board, and other internal and external customers to provide qualitative and quantitative analysis and information regarding legal requirements and budgets.  Provide management with key tax data and statistics to develop and administer key tax goals, strategies, and objectives.  Prepare, analyze and interpret appropriate tax positions, strategies and compliance issues.  Work with engineers, lawyers, IT professional, buyers, treasury, payroll, human resources and accounting to properly formulate tax positions and implement tax strategies.  Work to balance legal requirements and tax savings for SRP related entities and its subsidiaries.

Additional Information

M.B.A., Master of Taxation or CPA preferred but not required.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, local income tax.
  • Strong knowledge of property tax laws and applications.
  • Research tax laws, regulations, and court cases.

Job Responsibilities

  • Completes excise, property, income, and other tax  reporting.
  • Forecasts budgetary information for payroll taxes, property taxes, income taxes.
  • Analyzes federal and state tax legislation for its potential impact to SRP and provide potential solutions to address SRP issues.
  • Defends SRP tax positions under state and local taxing jurisdiction audits, and appeals and prepares defense of issues with taxing jurisdiction oversight boards or courts.
  • Analyzes account information and reconcile tax general ledger accounts.

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Experience

Promotion to level 2 requires a minimum of two years of experience at level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to senior level requires a minimum of three-years of experience at level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead  responsibilities.
