Summary

The Fire Mitigation Specialist is responsible for overall duties and emergency response fire mitigation/coordination program. Provides 24 hour response on events while also serving as SRP’s Liaison to responding agencies. Reviews as well as coordinates on strategies development for different planned and unplanned fire/emergency events with potential involvement of SRP assets. Poses good knowledge of operations, maintenance and infrastructure systems.

What You'll Do

  • ​​​​​Single point of contact for SRP on Fire mitigation.
  • 24 hour emergency callout response statewide.
  • SRP’s Liaison to State/Federal/Municipal agencies on fire events.
  • Responsible for gathering edits and coordination of annual statewide transmission system map used for emergency response.  
  • Responsible for all escort access into land closures to facilitate continued access for SRP resources during emergencies.  
  • Provide training around electrical system as needed for fire response crews.
  • Serve as the field representative for SRP’s Operation groups during events to be eyes and ears as well as their voice remotely.
  • Collaborate with agencies to develop acceptable burn plans that involve SRP assets.
  • Partner with agencies during emergency events for determining values at risk and potential impacts to SRP assets among other impacts.
  • Review annually SRP’s electric system as it relates to fire fuels and potential exposure/risk assessment.
  • Partner and foster relationships with all known first responders annually as well as provide coordination memo to each agency.
  • Cragin watershed protection project coordination for prescribe burning, mechanical thinning and seasonal operational support.

Experience

Requires a minimum of seven years of experience.

Education

Completion of an Associate's degree, Apprenticeship, or 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona. We are taking steps to protect the health and well-being of all team members, and by following a number of health and safety protocols, to reduce the risk of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
