Job Brief

  • Perform quality control related activities and quality assurance functions necessary to maintain high standards of quality and reliability throughout SRPs power generation fleet. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform applicable code related and engineering inspections on associated power plant equipment such as, but not limited to, high energy piping systems, steam turbines and combustion turbines.
  • Perform various NDE methods (ECT, MT, PT, & UT).
  • Perform visual code related weld inspections.
  • Perform hardness testing and positive material identification.
  • Perform indirect visual inspections with borescope equipment.
  • Perform receiving inspections of Code related material.
  • Prepare and write technical inspection reports.
  • Coordinate heat treatment support and NDE support with contract personnel as required.
  • Administer WPQRs.  Ability to track and maintain welder certifications.
  • Administer PQRs and write WPSs as required.
  • Review quality control standards and procedures used throughout SRP.
  • Perform internal quality audits in support of SRPs quality control program.
  • Perform surveillance of quality control methods and products supplied by vendors under contract to SRP.
  • Review vendor specifications and designs for technical accuracy and completeness to applicable codes.
  • Advise internal engineering groups in the areas of welding, quality control and NDE.
  • Attend SRP project meetings as required.
  • Attend training programs, seminars, conferences, and technical meetings.

Education

Completion of an Associate's degree, Apprenticeship, or 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Experience

An associate applied science degree in NDE preferred.

 

Over 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience as a NDE technician and quality control inspector.

Certifications

  • Must be certifiable to SNT-TC-1A as Level II in MT, PT, & UT at a minimum.
  • Must hold a current AWS-CWI certification.

Additional Information

•    Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
•    Must be detailed oriented.
•    Radiographic film interpretation experience and certifications preferred but not required.
•    Thermography experience preferred but not required.
•    Knowledge of construction methods, power plant equipment and operations.
•    Knowledge and ability to interpret standards and codes, i.e., ASME, AWS, ANSI, ASTM, ASNT, API, AISC, etc.
•    Knowledge and ability to function in quality control related activities, i.e., welding inspection, vendor surveillance, material control, etc.
•    Knowledge and experience in performing specification review.
•    Knowledge of project organization and general policies, purchasing, warehousing, and accounting procedures.
•    Knowledge of electricity, mechanics, hydraulics, structural materials, metallurgy, welding processes, etc.
•    Ability to read engineering drawings.
•    Ability to tabulate data, maintain files and prepare reports.
•    Ability to take readings with precision measurement instruments and devices.
•    Duties require mental alertness, concentration and occasional out of town travel to remote facilities for extended periods.
•    Appropriate respirator medical certification, fit testing and training required.

Hybrid Workplace
