Job Brief

The Sr. Security Systems Technician performs duties involving the installation, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of complex electronic security systems to include intrusion/perimeter detection, access control, CCTV, Intercom and other associated security systems and components.  Successful fulfillment of duties will require being able to work independently, and occasionally working after hours in an emergency system support capacity.

Job Responsibilities

  • Install, test, troubleshoot and maintain microprocessor based electronic security systems and components to include, card readers, intercoms, and security control panels.
  • Install, test, troubleshoot and maintain various Video Management System (VMS components) such as servers, headend software, network switches, etc.
  • Install, test, troubleshoot and maintain complex TCP/IP based thermal imaging perimeter detection systems with integrated video analytics and geo-spatial positioning technology.
  • Install, test, troubleshoot and maintain integrations with various building systems to include fire alarm, lighting control, elevator control and paging/intercom.
  • Ability to configure and modify various system communication protocols to include ASCII, RS485, RS422, RS232, Manchester, Pelco D/P.
  • Configure security system software components such as card reader doors, clearance levels, time specifications, Anti-pass back, access badge templates, alarm events and control panel settings in the CCURE 800 software.
  • Works independently and efficiently on tasks assigned by Security Services Management.
  • Participate and assist in a technical capacity, with customer and Security Services initiated project site walks.  
  • Prepare complex security systems design and product specifications/selection.
  • Coordinate security systems project and maintenance work with Facilities Services, IT and other various SRP departments/customers.
  • Serve as a security systems technical subject matter expert to Security Service Management and other SRP departments/customers.
  • Perform physical security assessments of SRP facilities to evaluate security system coverage and effectiveness and prepare assessment reports and documentation.  
  • Prepare documentation in a variety of written and electronic formats (e.g. daily paperwork/log, time and materials, key and material records, control panel loading schedules, electronic drawings, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support in  compliance with regulations and/or conveying information.


Systems Related Knowledge

Knowledge and experience with the following systems is preferred:

  • Software House CCURE 9000.
  • Genetec Security Center
  • Southwest Microwave perimeter protection system
  • Analog and IP CCTV cameras
  • Inovonics Wireless network systems
  • Video analytic intrusion detection systems
  • Ground based radar intrusion detection systems


  • Ability to interpret and follow system wiring schematics.
  • Knowledge of the principles of electrical and electronics theory.
  • Relay logic
  • Extensive experience with electronic locking and other various door hardware components.
  • Successful experience with complex system installations.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use volt/amp meter and other electronic systems testing equipment.

Education and Experience


  • 30 College hours in electronics or certified technical electronic courses or completed apprenticeship in electronic discipline is preferred.


  • A minimum of 5 years of work-related skill, knowledge, and experience in a security system installation capacity.
  • 3 years of security systems design and product specification capacity is preferred.
  • 5 years work related skill, knowledge, or experience in a security system service/maintenance capacity is preferred.
  • Experience working alone in a Service Technician position supporting wide range of security systems equipment, components and software.
  • Manufacturer certifications in enterprise level access control and CCTV systems, with a preference for Software House and Genetec certifications are greatly preferred.
  • Experience with fire alarm systems, Fire Alarm industry codes/requirements and various methods of interfacing Fire Alarm and security systems for life safety purposes.  
  • Experience in creating and modifying project as-build drawings, with a preference placed on AutoCad experience.

Additional Information

  • Advanced understanding and experience with local and wide area networks (LANs & WANs) technologies is required
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering/drawings/blueprints for accuracy and corrections.
  • Ability to interface with engineers/architects/vendors during design, bidding, and installation of security systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Visio).
  • Experience managing all aspects complex security systems projects is preferred.
  • Must possess the appropriate valid Arizona driver’s license and be able to drive a company vehicle


SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although part-time teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
