Job Brief

Responsible for negotiation, analysis, coordination and administration of water related agreements such as water delivery and use agreements, water transportation agreements, and water exchange agreements. Maintains and improves the storage, protection, and accessibility of SRP’s water related documentation related to contracts and water rights, in both physical and electronic formats.

Job Responsibilities

  • Records, administers, analyzes, and interprets existing water resource agreements and contracts, with other utilities, governmental agencies, and private interests in close cooperation with several internal departments
  • Develops and negotiates new agreements and updates existing agreements and provides analysis and recommendation to senior management regarding these agreements.
  • Maintains and updates inventory of physical and/or electronic archives related to water agreements and contracts as well as water rights.
  • Develops and implements processes for physical and/or electronic documentation collection, storage, archives, and/or disposal
  • Leads efforts to protect and improve accessibility of physical and electronic archives related to water agreements and contracts as well as water rights.


Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.


Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years experience at level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three years experience at Level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

Additional Information

  • Experience in water rights administration, quantitative business analysis, contract negotiations or administration, or data storage (physical and electronic) and information protection preferred.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, Arizona water resources, Arizona and western water law, and municipal water management related issues preferred
  • Effective interpersonal skills to work with internal and external contacts
