Summary

We are looking to hire an individual to join our team of analysts and engineers in a centralized Monitoring and Diagnostics Center that monitors our Electric Power Generating Assets.  

What You'll Do

  • Monitor the thermal, mechanical, and electrical performance of power plant equipment and systems.
  • Troubleshoot plant systems, processes and equipment and identify potential failures, limitations, defects, deficiencies or degradation and its causes.
  • Utilize multiple Advanced Pattern Recognition (APR) Modeling Technologies to help identify these potential impending equipment failures and deficiencies.
  • Create, Maintain, Update, and Improve APR Models to further increase our ability to detect issues.  
  • Organize and track pending plant issues in an issue tracking system.
  • Participate in reoccurring meetings both remote and in-person with our Plant Customers to review ongoing issues as well as assist them with any new areas of concern.  
  • Develop, Deploy, and Maintain additional monitoring metrics through the use of Pi Asset Framework Asset Analytics.
  • Develop, Deploy, and Maintain automated monitoring through the use of scripting and coding in languages such as Python.  
  • Use additional tools such as Microsoft Excel, Pi Datalink and Builder in Excel, EtaPRO Thermal Performance Software, Pi Vision and Processbook.   
  • Prepare data visualizations and reports and present them to various groups in the organization.
  • Work on additional projects such as Gas Turbine Start-up Transient Monitoring, Automated Equipment Diagnostics, Industry and University Research Projects, and the development of additional renewables monitoring and other forms of Inverter-Based Resources (IBR).
     

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Analytical understanding of typical power plant equipment, modes of failure, theoretical operating techniques, system design, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot plant systems, processes, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of current performance monitoring and advanced pattern recognition/predictive analytics software
  • Knowledge of Aveva Osisoft Pi Products including Pi Vision, Pi Processbook, Pi Asset Framework, Pi Datalink in Excel
  • Ability to make presentations for Management at all levels in the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to convey advanced statistical concepts to all levels of employees.
  • Advanced Data Visualization Skills

 

 

EDUCATION:

Senior Analyst:

Minimum Education:  At least 60 hours of technical college credits or equivalent (e.g. Journeyman-a graduate of appropriate (job-related) apprenticeship program.  Successful completion of Operations Specialist training) with a minimum of 5 years at the journeyman level or above and 10 or more years relevant experience working in a power plant.

 

Alternate:

Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering related discipline with 5 years of experience in an electric industry field.

 

 

Experience

Experience as a power plant control room operator, engineering-related discipline, or in a similar classification or position.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
