Summary

Distribution Integration Engineering Manager is responsible for leading an engaged team that provides engineering support to SRP Distribution Operations through clear and transparent communication with multiple departments across SRP. This role is responsible for overseeing the engineering review and integration of distributed energy resource (DER) projects, including solar and energy storage. This role requires effective coordination across internal department, external developers and business customers while overseeing staff and contractors who manage the interconnection engineering review process. Additionally, the manager leads change through discovery and piloting of new technologies on the SRP distribution system that improve system reliability, crew safety and the customer experience. The manager is also the technical leader supporting the operation of a microgrid test lab to include testing new DER technologies and control integration with the SRP Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS).

What You'll Do

•    Work collaboratively with SRP Customer Programs, SRP Standards, and SRP Operational Technology teams to support SRP corporate grid enablement goals.
•    Develops a diverse and inclusive engineering professional and paraprofessional team in the planning and engineering of emerging distribution power system electrical requirements.
•    Cultivates an innovative culture by collaborating with, coaching of, goal setting with, and training of team members.
•    Directs the development of maintenance standards, work processes, and maintenance procedures by piloting new technologies.
•    Lead collaboration with SRP distribution strategy teams to enhance DER integration.
•    Monitor, report on and design pilot budgets, scopes, and schedules.
•    Cultivates a culture of respect, care and personal growth for department staff, leading towards highly skilled and accountable employees.
•    Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of emerging SRP customer business requirements and expectations.
•    Active engagement in process improvements and the generation of ideas related to design and improvement of SRP distribution standards.
•    Manage microgrid lab by developing process documentation related to research activities supporting pilot projects and lab assets.

What It Takes To Succeed

Completion of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution, ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) or any state or internationally recognized PE registration preferred.

Additional Information: 

•    This position is based out of the Power Operations Building (POB). Periodic travel to other SRP locations and some out-of-town travel is required. 
•    Typical out-of-town travel for industry conferences, vendor site visits and continued education opportunities averages three to four weeks per year. 
•    On-Call Duty Supervisor duties required on occasion.
•    Maintains extensive outside contacts with equipment manufacturers. Will have access to confidential SRP data.

Experience

A minimum of eight years of related experience is required (if no degree, 12 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling 12 years). 

Education

A bachelor’s degree related to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
