Summary

We are seeking an experienced OT infrastructure engineer to join our High Security Operations Center (HSOC) team. This role is critical to supporting SRP's operational technology environments, including power generation and transmission systems. As a Senior OT Infrastructure Engineer, you will support and assist with virtualized server environments, backup systems, and secure data transfer solutions within a high-security, NERC-CIP-compliant framework. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in virtualization platforms, Windows/Linux server administration, backup and disaster recovery technologies, and security hardening practices for critical infrastructure. While focus of position is on supporting infrastructure, this individual will also be responsible for assisting with and troubleshooting core network architecture around switching and firewalls. Title of position is officially "Network Engineer", but role will require knowledge of and willingness to work with full OSI stack, especially layers 3-7.

What You'll Do

  • Assist ITS Teams (Virtualization, Server, Storage, etc.) with support of physical and virtualized environments using VMware vSphere, Cohesity, NetApp, and other systems.
  • Support Cisco switching (Nexus and Catalyst) and Palo Alto firewalls
  • Support secure data transfer technologies, including data diodes and associated monitoring.
  • Collaborate with team members on infrastructure lifecycle planning, migrations, and optimization of multi-site redundancy.
  • Maintain and enhance cyber security frameworks and IT governance plans while remaining NERC-CIP compliant.
  • Create, review, and update process documents, infrastructure diagrams, and compliance documentation.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve network and infrastructure issues across virtualization, storage, and server platforms; perform root cause analysis when needed.
  • Provide on-call support on a 24/7 rotation for critical OT systems (all OSI layers).
  • Foster a positive working environment through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and cross-team engagement.

Education

A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Experience

• For a Level 1 (Associate), a minimum of no previous years of experience to two years related experience is required (if no degree, four-six years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling four-six years).

• For a Level 2 (Journey), a minimum of two years of experience to four years related experience is required (if no degree, six-eight years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling six-eight years).

• For a Level 3 (Senior), a minimum of five years of related experience is required (if no degree, nine years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling nine years).

Additional Requirements and Qualifications

  • Relevant Certifications Considered: VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Palo Alto PCNSE/NGFW Eng, CompTIA Security+.
  • Proven experience with virtualization technologies and Windows/Linux server administration. (VMware vSphere)
  • Strong knowledge of storage and backup/recovery platforms and disaster recovery planning. (NetApp, Cohesity)
  • Familiarity with OT security standards, NERC-CIP compliance, and secure data transfer solutions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues under pressure and during critical outages.
  • Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, PowerCLI) for efficiency and compliance.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project leadership skills with a growth mindset toward advancing technical knowledge.
  • Ability to work remote or on-site as needed, including various SRP sites (substation and generation). Minimum of 2 days a week in-office/on-site is required, with flexibility for additional on-site work when necessary.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between sites.
  • High level problem-solving and communication skills
  • Operational Technology (OT) and/or Utility experience is highly desired

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
