Summary

The Operational Technology (OT) Principal Planning Analyst plays a key role in advancing OT strategy and governance across the organization. This position supports leadership in the planning, development, execution, and oversight of the OT portfolio, partnering closely with operating businesses (Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Supply & Trading), OT teams (applications, infrastructure, metering, telecom, protection, automation, and control), as well as corporate ITS and Cyber Security Services.

The role is responsible for driving OT strategic priorities, supporting roadmap development, and ensuring effective governance processes. By collaborating with business units and corporate partners, the analyst helps deliver a structured portfolio of initiatives aligned with defined timelines. A critical focus is maintaining alignment with corporate and enterprise technology strategies while enabling successful execution across OT functions.

What You'll Do

  • Build stakeholder consensus by collaborating with diverse stakeholders, and effectively handle varying viewpoints. Utilize superior decision-making and coordination skills in ambiguous situations. Act as a trusted advisor, influencing stakeholders to act on product and technology matters.
  • Support leadership in development and deployment of Operational Technology Strategy frameworks and methodologies across OT, leveraging macro and micro trends to inform leaders and technology strategy, and support the development and maintenance of the annual OT Strategy & Governance plan, in coordination with, and across a broad set of stakeholders.
  • Facilitate OT governance with alignment and integration with the Enterprise Technology governance process.
  • Support development of the Operational Technology Planning & Program Roadmap, including overall OT Strategy & Governance program initiatives in collaboration with Power System, Information Technology Services, and Cyber Security Services.
  • Support Operational Technology domain priorities. Leverage emerging trends and business leaders to help identify relevant projects/programs. Support development of technology prioritization criteria based on overall strategy and in coordination with Power System, Information Technology Services, and Cyber Security Services; build consensus amongst stakeholders, prioritize needs, and contribute overall roadmap.
  • Develop, prioritize, and coordinate the creation and update of the OT roadmap and execution of the project portfolio, ensuring adherence to the OT Strategy. Maintain accountability for project timelines and ensure effective communication of program status updates.
  • Develop and manage the execution of key strategic OT initiatives defined in the OT Planning Strategy.
 

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution plus an additional 18 graduate level college credits in an area of specialty.

Experience

  • 10 years of relevant experience is required.
  • In lieu of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 14 years may be considered.

Additional Requirements and Qualifications

  • Planning experience within one of the following focus areas:
    • utility planning, marketing planning, management, communications, market research, economic forecasting, applied energy-related engineering experience or related area is preffered. 
  • Deep expertise in technology strategy, project and program development; operational technology in power networks / utilities is preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve strategic priorities with measurable objectives – engaging multiple stakeholders and balancing competing demands toward a single shared roadmap. 
  • Expertise in project management methodologies and tools, including structuring projects and programs within a portfolio of work.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Strong relationship builder and ability to influence others and manage change effectively across multiple departments. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.  
  • Innovative mindset, with experience supporting teams through transformational change and encouraging a culture of innovation. 

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
