Summary

Subject to supervision, performs skilled work in the operation of mobile cranes, e.g. yard, hydraulic, boom truck, crawler, over the road and rough terrain from 18 ton to 90 ton lifting capacity. May require driving mobile cranes and operating and/or driving additional Operator 2, 3, or 4 equipment utilized in the operation of the assigned project locations which may sometime require being transported by fixed wing, rotor, boat or other means of company approved transportation.

What You'll Do

  • Operates and/or drives mobile cranes used in the construction, removal and maintenance of Salt River Project facilities.
  • Operates and/or drives equipment used for digging, trenching, leveling and moving earth or similar materials.
  • Operates and/or drives equipment used to lift personnel to heights required for the performance of their work.
  • Operates and/or drives equipment used in overhead and underground conductor line stringing, pulling and tensioning.
  • Assists other employees doing related work as prescribed by supervisory personnel.
  • Responsible for routine and certification inspections of mobile lifting equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, services machines, makes minor adjustments and repairs and identifies other repairs and/or maintenance as required.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading material, tools and assigned equipment for trailers.
  • Performs daily pre-operational inspections and maintains equipment logs as required.
  • Must be able to read and understand the calculation of load charts with or without the aid of a Load Moment Indicator (LMI), and/or Electric Crane Operating System (ECOS).
  • Applies all related load capacity, LMI, sling, and rigging charts and information for the safe operation of equipment and the handling of tools.
  • Inspects and maintains slings and all related below the hook lifting device.
  • Operates equipment that functions on or near energized or de-energized electrical conductors.
  • Direct, supervise and train assigned Equipment Operator Trainee, 4 or equivalent, as required.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Employee must work safely and efficiently in the performance of their job duties.  Must maintain effective working relationships with other employees, customers and the public.   Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, and have the ability to accurately and legibly complete applicable paper work.  May be required to work a reasonable amount of overtime.

What It Takes To Succeed

Must have courteous and cooperate with others to promote and establish harmonious work relations. Employee must have a high mental, visual and physical coordination while operating their assigned equipment. Is accountable and responsible for all assigned tools and equipment. Must have thorough knowledge of hazards and applicable safety rules, practices, and procedures for work performed. Must have working knowledge of standard construction practices. Must have two years driving experience in CDL vehicles (26,000 lb. or greater). Ability to drive oversize and permitted loads. Must have valid applicable SRP Operator Certifications. Operator will attend crane and rigging training from industry training providers as appropriate. Must have working knowledge in the safe operation of all Power C&M mobile and rental cranes. Experience working in and around energized and non-energized power lines and equipment (for example: condor and substation equipment).  Prepares accurate time and other reports as necessary. Must have working knowledge of proper care and use of assigned equipment including maintenance schedules and procedures to meet SRP safety policies and meet ADOT and OSHA rules and regulations.  Truck Driver 4, Mobile Crane, Trencher, Backhoe, Hole Digger, Forklift, Line/Wire pulling & Tensioning with applicable equipment.

Experience

6 months experience with SRP Certification as an Equipment Operator Trainee 4, Truck Driver 4, Operator Equipment Trainee 3, or equivalent.

Testing and Certifications

Must possess a valid Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
Must maintain regulated State/Federal Certified Crane Operator (CCO) License/Certification.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
