Summary

Plans and schedules all work for daily maintenance and the long range planning for unit overhauls. Takes work orders from initial requests to completion for all maintenance of boilers, turbines, major auxiliary equipment, railroad, and all plant facilities. Coordinated use of support crafts and equipment required in executing maintenance. Establishes and administers preventive maintenance and predictive programs for all plant equipment.

What You'll Do

  • Plans, organizes and schedules maintenance work programs in a coal fired electric generation station using computerized maintenance management system and software.
  • Receives/generates work orders; Analyzes these for validity/priority and procures parts/materials for job. Schedules work to foreman via computerized system.
  • Maintains records of equipment history. Uses accumulated data to prepare routine and special reports to keep management informed of plant status.
  • Provides warehousing with information required to maintain economically adequate levels of parts and materials.
  • Monitors progress of regular, predictive and preventive maintenance in process. Amends schedule to accommodate emergency work.
  • Develops work standards to aid in measuring productivity and gauging effectiveness of maintenance programs.
  •  Coordinates work load and its progress between crafts, contractors, support equipment, engineering, quality control, inspectors and vendors.
  • Provides reports to plant and project management concerning generating preventive maintenance, backlog, status, outage process, etc.
  • Monitors preventive maintenance program to assure proper coverage/frequency/adequacy. Modifies programs as required to minimize breakdowns.
  • Develops workscope for equipment overhaul during scheduled and unscheduled unit outages, using critical path monitoring system. Provides contingency plans when required to keep work going smoothly.

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of operation and maintenance related to coal fired steam/electric generating station.
  • Ability to evaluate plant equipment and space parts requirements to maintain a complete inventory for overhauls; Plan work for contract labor.
  • Ability to make quick decisions and follow them through to insure minimum down time in case of emergency outage.
  • Ability to work from sketches, prints, and drawings

Experience

A minimum of 5 years of experience in steam plant maintenance, instrumentation, engineering, or operations. Steam plant experience in warehousing or purchasing may be acceptable if the applicant has successfully completed the operators trainee course.

Education

Completion of an appropriate Apprenticeship program or equivalent.

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
