Summary
This position is responsible for ensuring that his or her assigned events and activities are organized and executed providing a high-quality catering service for banquets, receptions and events to achieve customer satisfaction and retention. Responsible for directing staff, overseeing operations, and acting as liaisons between customers, catering team and other departments. Must be able to work all closing shifts that include food or bar and other shifts as needed.
What You'll Do
- Work with customers directly onsite to provide highest quality of service.
- Answer customer questions, try to resolve customer complaints, and issues.
- Able to close events and the facility for all evening events.
- Ensure proper execution of catering BEO’s for meetings, weddings & social events.
- Provide on-site event supervision of the catering staff during catered events.
- Participate in pre-event meetings with the Catering Supervisor to review catering proposals, floorplans, and timelines.
- Ensure facility cleanliness prior to, during and after the event.
- Able to reconcile the cash drawer for bar banks, complete reconciliation sheet and run nightly reports.
- Meet and greet guests in friendly and professional manner.
- Maintaining labor costs by adhering to staff schedules.
- Coordinate catering details with Event Strategist, kitchen and service staff.
- Direct and participate in the set-up and breakdown of seating tables and chairs, client provided décor, and food and bar services, when needed.
- Ensure proper AZ health code compliance and sanitation standards throughout the event.
- Monitor bar service to ensure adherence to state alcohol laws.
- Train, lead, and direct catering bartenders, and servers.
- Provide guidance and motivation to catering service staff.
- Ensure staff arrives in proper uniforms and adheres to grooming and hygiene standards.
- Maintain constant communication with kitchen staff, servers, and bartenders.
What It Takes To Succeed
- A high school diploma and minimum of 3 years’ experience in a banquet-related position
- Have a valid Maricopa County Food Handlers certification and an Arizona approved Title 4 Basic and Management certification or able to receive it within 7 days of being hired.
- Adhere to set timelines and communicate any changes to the Event Coordinator, kitchen staff, and service staff.
- Examine quality of food prior to distributing to event guests.
- Ability to assist bartender needs as needed.
- Ensure proper delivery and bussing of food and beverages items in a timely manner.
- Ability to provide quick decision making.
- Communicate with management in a timely manner regarding any event concerns that require additional guidance.
- Ensure proper guests’ departure.
- Ensure proper post-event breakdown and clean-up in a timely manner.
- Provide post event wrap up notes to event coordinator and Supervisor.
Experience
• At least 6 months of server experience
• Food Handler and Alcohol Server Certifications as required by State and City.
• Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
• Ability to stand during entire shift.
• You are comfortable working in both indoor and occasional outdoor environments.
• Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
Education
Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
