Summary
The Senior Business Systems Analyst serves as the liaison between the business community and the GIS technical development team(s) who support the systems and applications the community uses. This person is responsible for ensuring that business needs, related to those systems and applications, are clearly understood, documented, and met. The Business Systems Analyst will work closely with business system users, subject matter experts, technical resources, and project stakeholders to support business requirement efforts, document functional requirements and design specifications and support development and testing efforts. This individual must possess solid business acumen, strong oral and written communication skills, flexibility, self-motivation, and strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
What You'll Do
- Elicits, analyzes, specifies, and validates the business needs of stakeholders.
- Creates documentation ensuring that the requirements and design are complete, consistent, concise, traceable, feasible, unambiguous, and verifiable.
- Conducts internal and external research to gain a better understanding of the project’s subject area.
- Conducts meetings and presentations to all levels of stakeholders to share ideas and findings and to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted.
- Manages and tracks the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforces and redefines as necessary.
- Researches, reviews, and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and develops strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
Education
Experience
In lieu of a degree, 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 4 years may be considered.
Additional Requirements and Qualifications
- Experience with ESRI GIS Software and Systems.
- Experience as a Business Analyst with hands-on experience in facilitating the elicitation of requirements, using proven facilitation and interviewing techniques.
- Experience with the Requirements, Design, Construction, Testing, Implementation and Support phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Experience with multiple SDLC methodologies (including Kanban).
- Experience with Business Process Modeling.
- Understanding of Project Management methodologies and practices.
Discretion in working with corporate proprietary and confidential information used in environmental work, legal cases, water rights adjudication, and facility infrastructure as related to federal and state regulatory requirements (i.e. FERC, Homeland Security). May require occasional work with outside consultants and agencies.
Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
