Summary

The Water Data Governance & Analytics team is an Analytics Competency Center within Water Information Technology Services (WITS), designed to provide state-of-the-art data analytics and reporting, including tools and data architecture, to improve the value of information and provide insights for operational efficiencies and customer service across the Water Stewardship organization. The Senior Business Systems Analyst will be embedded within the team to gather detailed business and technical requirements, create business use and test cases, and function as a liaison by creating direct channels of communication between technical and business teams.

What You'll Do

  • Curate and recommend new analytics solutions 
  • Work with the Data Governance and Analytics team to deliver the best end-user solution
  • Translate business needs into analytics/reporting requirements to support executive decisions and workflows with required information
  • Coordinate with knowledge workers to understand their information needs and identifies ways to visualize and present information in a user-friendly manner
  • Support data visualization specialists and data scientists through their development of dashboards and user interfaces
  • Work closely with information managers, architects, and business units for knowledge sharing, mentoring, and training
  • Elicit, analyze, and validate business, functional, and non-functional requirements
  • Develop analytical strategies to solve business problems
  • Lead the business in the design of the future state (To-Be) through the analysis of their current state (As-Is) via process modeling
  • Design and document system functionality
  • Perform on-going requirements traceability and management, including facilitating discussions related to change requests
  • Prepare and present complex written and verbal materials such as reports, findings, and systems training
  • Develop, refine, and validate user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Document key content deliverables (Requirements & functional design, user stories, test plans, test cases, UAT sessions, acceptance report, training materials)
  • Lead backlog refinement meetings - review user stories and acceptance criteria with sprint team
  • Work with the Product Owner to ensure strong quality of product backlog
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies

Experience

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience as Business Systems Analyst, extensive hands-on experience with agile practices, requirements documentation, and facilitation and interviewing techniques to extract and validate user requirements
  • 5+ years extensive hands-on experience with requirements (product backlog), design, construction, testing and implementation phases of software development in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
  • If no degree, nine years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling nine years.
  • Experience creating user stories and maintaining a backlog in Azure Dev Ops

 

Preferred:

  • MS Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint
  • Experience with data management tools such as Snowflake and Power BI
  • SRP Water business knowledge a plus

Education

A bachelor’s degree related to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Additional Information

There may be occasional contacts with vendors of software, equipment, and services. Occasional travel to SRP facilities. Ability to work effectively using the services of various organizational groups within SRP. Depending on assignment, frequent requirement to work with confidential data.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona. We are taking steps to protect the health and well-being of all team members, and by following a number of health and safety protocols, to reduce the risk of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
