Summary
The candidate will be part of the Land Department Survey team, with a mission to support our design and Land teams with drafting land rights (deeds, maps and easements), easement acquisitions and construction calculations for construction staking.
This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service support to SRP designers and fellow team members by ensuring efficient work request management.
The student intern will work daily scheduled hours based on the department’s needs, with a minimum requirement of 15 hours and up to 40 hours per week maximum.
Work week is Monday - Friday with work hours available from 6am-3:30pm.
What You'll Do
• Asist with work request responses to internal customers.
• New project database setup and tracking.
• Research deeds, plats, surveys maps, and easement documents utilizing county websites and internal SRP GIS search tools.
• Drafting deeds, survey maps, plats and easements creating an accurate base map of land rights to be used for design, new easement acquisition and construction calculations.
• Draft easement exhibits and legal descriptions for easement acquisition.
• Assist with other unlisted duties as needed.
Experience
In order to be eligible for the Student Intern Program at SRP, the employee must be actively enrolled and maintain a minimum of six (6) credit hours that are college level (100) or above over the course of a regular semester and must be working towards a degree or certificate from an accredited college or university.
For an accelerated program, the student must be enrolled in six credit hours in the equivalent of a traditional semester.
Additional Requirements and Qualifications
Preferred Skills:
• Students with target degrees in drafting, engineering, construction management, GIS and STEM are preferred.
• CAD experience in any of the major CAD software like Autocad or MicroStation
• Experience with the Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office productivity suite.
• A strong background in client support and demonstrated ability to work with clients of varied technical skill levels.
• Oral and written communication skills, including understanding of good documentation practices.
• Able to organize with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
Education
Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
