Summary
This is a position within Information Technology, specifically on the Server Management team.
As a member of the Server Management team, the Server Management intern will assist with operational tasks including installing operating systems (both physical servers and virtual servers), configuring and updating servers, and troubleshooting Windows, Red Hat, and VMware issues. The Server Management intern will be primarily responsible for maintaining server CMDB data, creating and running reports, assisting team members with various technical projects and operational tasks, and communicating with stakeholders. In addition, they will have the opportunity to learn systems administration duties for Windows and Linux Operating Systems and VMware virtualization environments. The individual will need strong organization, communication and troubleshooting skills to be successful in this position as they will work with multiple groups across the organization.
The student intern will work daily scheduled hours based on the department’s needs, with a minimum requirement of 15 hours and up to 40 hours per week maximum.
Preference given to anyone pursuing an IT-related education or degree.
What You'll Do
As an intern on the Server Management team, you will:
- Learn and assist with managing server infrastructure including Windows Server, VMware, and Red Hat Linux.
- Gain exposure to enterprise tools such as Microsoft SCCM, ServiceNow, and PKI certificate management.
- Participate in server refresh and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate on cross-departmental projects aimed at improving operational efficiency.
- Contribute to automation initiatives that streamline processes and reduce manual effort.
- Follow established procedures and documentation while bringing fresh ideas to the table.
What It Takes To Succeed
We're looking for someone who:
- Is currently enrolled in a college program related to Information Technology, Computer Science, or a similar field.
- Has a strong interest in server infrastructure and enterprise IT environments.
- Is outgoing, curious, and eager to learn new technologies.
- Takes initiative and can work independently or as part of a team.
- Communicates effectively and follows established processes with attention to detail.
Education
Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
