Summary

SRP is seeking a motivated College Intern to support our teams while gaining handson experience in a collaborative, missiondriven environment. This internship offers students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to realworld projects that support SRP’s commitment to delivering reliable, sustainable water and power services. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful work, and develop technical and professional skills relevant to their field of study. The role is designed to foster learning, teamwork, and innovation while providing exposure to SRP’s operations and culture. This is an excellent opportunity for students who are eager to learn, grow, and make an impact while exploring a future career with SRP. 

 

The selected candidate will be involved in both technical and non-technical tasks. Activities will allow for work to be completed individually as well as in a team environment with opportunity for collaboration with other departments within SRP. 

 

The student intern will work daily scheduled hours based on the department’s needs, with a minimum requirement of 15 hours and up to 40 hours per week maximum. 

What You'll Do

Technical activities may include: 

• Work within a team on tasks ranging from process improvements to application or data support 

• Support and develop Power BI and Power Apps solutions (or similar data/automation tools relevant to Water Rights) 

• Assist with data tracking, mapping support, and records management for water rights portfolios 

 

Non-technical tasks may include: 

• Help maintain and organize documentation (e.g., adjudication records, agreements, and compliance materials) 

• Identify areas for improvement within team processes 

• Assist in updating tracking systems and internal documentation repositories 

Education

A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.

Experience

• Computer aptitude and enthusiasm to learn new technologies 

• Customer service mindset 

• Effective communication 

• Strong work ethic

• Reliability and accountability 

• Good organizational skills 

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 

 

Experience with any of the following preferred

• Power BI or similar data visualization tools 

• Power Apps or similar automation tools 

• Relational databases 

• SharePoint 

• GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS) 

Additional Requirements and Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2nd or 3rd year college student with an interest in the sciences, water resources, sustainable economic development, or other related field.
  • A background in GIS applications is desired.
  • Assist in organizing/participating in annual water awareness events.
  • Students majoring in Water Resources, Geography/GIS, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources, Geology, Hydrology, Sustainability, History, Law, Library Science or related disciplines are encouraged to apply.

 

College level coursework (100 or higher) from an accredited institution is preferred. Management will evaluate college-level coursework individually to determine if it is applicable to the position and relevant to the required skills. Knowledge such as accounting, general administrative principles, communications, marketing, personnel, finance, training, business and other non-scientific fields.

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
