Summary
The Generation Applications team is dedicated to empowering the Power Generation organization with actionable, data-driven insights. The team analyzes data, creates efficient data models, builds complex data pipelines, and delivers high impact dashboards and data visualizations.
As an Analytics Developer/Data Engineer on this team, you will work on dashboards, interactive visualizations, data pipelines, and reports. The successful candidate will utilize their experience with all Business Intelligence (BI) domains from translating requirements to sourcing, profiling, and modeling data, to ETL and dashboard development. This role will work closely with business partners to develop and implement analytical data models and dashboards. To excel in this role, the candidate will have strong communication skills to complement their technical ones.
You will work alongside Application Developers, Business Representatives, Data Engineers, Business Analysts, Engineers, and Power Plant personnel.
What You'll Do
• Define and develop dashboards including business metrics and performance indicators that drive action and insights (PowerBI and Tableau experience preferred).
• Build and maintain ETL pipelines utilizing data migration services (SSIS), languages, and tools that connect various data sources (Snowflake, SQL, Oracle).
• Apply query, data exploration and transformation, basic statistical methods and visualization techniques to create business insights or improve data quality.
• Write, implement, and schedule ETL and other operational packages and scripts using SSIS and SQL.
• Collaborate with operational/IT business leads to recognize and help adopt best practices in data delivery, analysis, integrity, and validation.
• Ability to analyze and design physical databases and their definitions.
• Design, test, build, and manage complex, high-performing multi-user analytic solutions.
• Coordinate technical interactions between Power Generation personnel and other information technology teams.
• Visit Power Generation power plants to support customers.
• Participate in on-call rotation for 24/7 support needs.
What It Takes To Succeed
The successful candidate will possess these capabilities:
• Advanced proficiency with PowerBI and Tableau
• Strong proficiency with T-SQL in a SQL Server environment
• Experience coding ETL processes in SSIS
• Expertise in modern database technologies, data integration, reporting
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and data
• Strong critical thinking, problem solving, organization and analytical skills
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and present analysis or technical concepts to a non-technical audience in a clear and understandable manner
Desired Technical Skills:
• Development/Query languages: SQL (T-SQL, Python)
• Platforms/Tools: PowerBI, Tableau, Snowflake, Dataiku, SQL Server, Oracle, SSIS, SSRS
• Knowledge of SAP and Maximo is preferred
• Visual studio experience preferred
Experience
• For a Level 1 (Associate), a minimum of no previous years of experience to two years related experience is required (if no degree, four-six years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling four-six years). • For a Level 2 (Journey), a minimum of two years of experience to four years related experience is required (if no degree, six-eight years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling six-eight years). • For a Level 3 (Senior), a minimum of five years of related experience is required (if no degree, nine years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling nine years).

Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
