Summary
As part of a collaborative team, facilitates the care, management, and programming of SRP’s physical collections, including its archival records historic artifacts, and art. Conducts research and communicates findings in writing. Understands and communicates SRP’s history and heritage. Works collaboratively with internal and external groups to effectively maintain and leverage SRP’s historic collections. Performs project management, organizing and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment, often against critical deadlines. Gives presentations to internal and external stakeholders. Works to process records into a digital asset management system. Reviews corporate records and other assets scheduled for disposition to determine their historic significance. Conducts oral history interviews.
What You'll Do
- Curates exhibits, executes programming, and manages content in SRP’s Heritage Center, including physical and digital displays, according to museum best practices.
- Specializes in intaking, assessing, organizing, and applying use policies for physical collections, including updating collections policies on a consistent cadence.
- Leads the management and maintenance of three-dimensional assets including artifacts and artwork.
- Assists with developing programming and content for the SRP Heritage Center/Museum.
- Acts as project manager, prioritizing requests, tasks and objectives, often against short deadlines.
- Frequently networks with internal stakeholders at all levels and external entities regarding the use of and education about art and artifacts.
- Performs historical research required for litigation support, policy analysis, and decision making.
- Analyzes material, provides facts and opinions, and reports findings in both oral and written formats.
- Participates in the management and maintenance of corporate records including documents, photographs, film, digital media, maps, artifacts, ephemera, microfilm, and microfiche.
- Processes records into archival collection utilizing digital asset management system.
- Assists in reviews of corporate records scheduled for destruction to determine their historical significance and makes recommendations for records retention or disposition.
- Answers requests for historical and contemporary information posed by management and external entities.
- Develops and delivers presentations to both internal and external groups.
- Conducts oral history interviews.
- Participates in corporate committees and work teams as requested.
Experience
Completion of an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment required.
Preferred Education and Experience
Completion of a Master's degree in History, Public History, Library Science, Archives, Museum Studies, or a related field preferred.
• At least 2 years of archives experience preferred.
• Understanding of Arizona and Western History preferred.
• Experience with digital asset management system preferred.
• Public speaking experience preferred.
• Interest in collections management and museum best practices preferred.
Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
