Summary

Acts as the Human Resource liaison for all SRP employees. Provides counsel and interpretation on key federal, state and local laws. Assists in formulating, interpreting and administering SRP policies and guidelines. Participates in Union negotiation, Contract administration, Contract training, and preparation for grievances and arbitration.  

What You'll Do

  • Advises management and employees on the interpretation and application of company policies, guidelines, procedures, union contracts, and federal, state, and local laws.  
  • Conducts investigations related to conduct, performance, and/or attendance reliability violations and/or alleged job discrimination, harassment, internal and external equity complaints, etc. Provides recommendations for positive discipline as appropriate.  
  • Participates as a management representative in the grievance/arbitration procedure, union contract discussion and union contract negotiations. 
  • Prepares, counsels, and administers all separations of service. 
  • Partners with other HR departments in order to assist in resolving management and/or employee concerns. 
  • Maintains effective relationships with SRP leadership, employees and Union representatives to assist in problem resolution. Consults on strategic workforce initiatives.  
  • Provides training to SRP leadership and employees on HR policies, guidelines and procedures. 
  • Drafts responses to external charges or inquires for legal review (EEOC/OFCCP).
  • Recommends and assists in the development of HR policies, guidelines and procedures relating to the employee relations and labor relations function. 

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Preference given to those with 3+ years Employee and Labor Relations experience in the Utility industry.
  • Experience creating presentations (PowerPoint) and presenting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills  
  • Understanding and working knowledge of employment law
  • Negotiating skills
  • SHRM/PHR preferred.

Experience

Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years experience at Level 1 and demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of 3 years experience at Level 2, is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona. We are taking steps to protect the health and well-being of all team members, and by following a number of health and safety protocols, to reduce the risk of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
