Summary

The Market Operations Strategy Analyst represents Supply & Trading & Fuels in the Western Energy Imbalance Market (EIM), as well as other emerging markets in the West.  The analyst will support the organization in developing energy trading and asset optimization systems for EIM deployment and participation, as well as responsibility for analysis and delivery of EIM operational and financial results.  The analyst will also be responsible for developing and implementing day-ahead and real-time dispatch strategies for optimizing SRP’s portfolio of generating assets.

What You'll Do

 

  • Represent SRP/S&T&F as subject matter expert in various forums in industry, including Western Energy Imbalance Market, emerging markets, ISOs, RTOs, and technical working groups
  • Develop asset optimization and dispatch strategies for SRP's generating assets
  • Responsible for maintenance and update of asset optimization model
  • Aid in monitoring fleet performance, trading positions, and operatonal risks
  • Develop and operate models and support tools for the daily forecast of native load, renewable generation resources, and market prices
  • Responsible for authoring and maintaining operating procedures and training materials
  • Assist traders with trade execution and compliance
  • Ensure successful integration of new resources and positions into the portfolio
  • Identify and assist with development of data and model methodologies that can be used to improve analytics
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience

• For an associate/level 1, a minimum of no previous years of experience to two years related experience plus a bachelor's degree is required. (If no degree, four-six years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling four years.)

• For a journey/level 2, a minimum of two years of experience to four years related experienced plus a bachelor's degree is required. (If no degree, six years-eight of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling six years.)

• For a senior level, a minimum of five years of related experience plus a bachelor's degree is required. (If no degree, nine years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling nine years.)

 

Promotion to level 2 requires a minimum of two years of experience at level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to senior level requires a minimum of three years of experience at level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

Education

A bachelor’s degree related to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
