Summary
Responsible for providing strategic leadership and full lifecycle management of SRP’s enterprise physical security systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, intercom platforms, and related infrastructure. This role manages complex, multi‑million‑dollar projects and service programs, oversees vendor relationships, and partners closely with Security Operations, IT, Facilities, Power Generation, Substation teams, and locksmith operations to deliver scalable, integrated security solutions that enhance operational reliability and business continuity. Additionally, the position drives system design, implementation, operations, and optimization while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and corporate security standards.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design, implementation, and lifecycle maintenance of physical security systems for new construction projects, facility expansions, renovations, substations, generating stations and technology upgrades across SRP facilities.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, align on best practices, and ensure successful implementation of physical security technologies.
- Develop and maintain system architecture documentation, technical standards, and device specifications.
- Manage full security system project lifecycles, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication.
- Oversee vendor activities, ensuring proper systems installation, commissioning, service quality, and adherence to SRP standards.
- Develop and administer preventive maintenance programs, including schedules, service-level expectations, and performance tracking.
- Administer access control and video management platforms, ensuring proper configuration, user roles, and compliance with security policies.
- Plan and execute full lifecycle management of physical security system software and firmware, including initial deployment, configuration and integration, testing and validation, routine updates and patching, platform upgrades, and comprehensive change management documentation.
- Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans for critical physical security applications, ensuring alignment with corporate requirements.
- Create dashboards, metrics, and analytics reporting to drive operational visibility, compliance tracking, and data‑driven decisions.
- Partner with IT teams on network configurations, cybersecurity requirements, certificate management, and integration of security platforms with enterprise IT systems, such as identity and access management tools.
- Support API-based integrations and automation initiatives that improve security platforms operational efficiency.
- Participate in lifecycle planning and capital budgeting for security system infrastructure.
- Research, evaluate, and test emerging security technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and enhancement.
- Perform other job-related functions as assigned to support SRP’s physical security objectives.
Education
Experience
• For a Level 1 (Associate), a minimum of no previous years of experience to two years related experience is required (if no degree, four-six years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling four-six years).
• For a Level 2 (Journey), a minimum of two years of experience to four years related experience is required (if no degree, six-eight years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling six-eight years).
• For a Level 3 (Senior), a minimum of five years of related experience is required (if no degree, nine years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling nine years).
Additional Requirements and Qualifications
- Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to tailor information to technical teams, executives, and end users.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of physical security technologies, system design principles, and IT infrastructure; experience with C‑CURE and Genetec strongly preferred.
- Solid knowledge of network systems, architectures, and protocols.
- Experience managing and maintaining computers, servers, and related hardware supporting security systems.
- Proven success leading technical projects, managing vendors, and overseeing service programs.
- Ability to define and implement governance structures, technical standards, and integration strategies.
- Strong documentation, organizational, and status‑reporting skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex initiatives in a fast‑paced environment.
- Manufacturer certifications for access control and video platforms preferred.
- Project management or security certifications (e.g., PMP, PSP, CPP) preferred.
- IT certifications (e.g., Network+, CCNA, Security+) preferred.
Testing and Certifications
Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
