Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced ADMS Principal Solution Architect to join our Application Support team. In this strategic technical role, you will serve as the go-to expert for the design, enhancement, and lifecycle management of our Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) solution (monarch™). You will collaborate with operations, engineering, and IT teams to optimize the performance and reliability of the electric distribution system through advanced ADMS capabilities. The position will recommend solutions, promote adoption of best practices, research and propose architectural improvements and provide fixes to daily operational issues. Additionally, the ADMS Principal Solutions Architect position will lead critical and complicated projects, coordinate with external teams, and facilitate team skill building and knowledge sharing. 

What You'll Do

  • Act as technical and functional SME for the utility’s AspenTech OSI ADMS environment.
  • Analyze and recommend solutions to complex business processes and problems
  • Lead critical and complicated projects
  • Own the overall system architecture and application design; ensure alignment with enterprise and operational goals.
  • Oversee configuration and optimization of ADMS functions like FLISR, VVO, OMS workflows, and switching operations.
  • Manage integration between ADMS and other enterprise systems (GIS, EMS, AMI, CIS).
  • Drive enhancements and upgrades through collaboration with vendors, project teams, and internal IT/OT stakeholders.
  • Review and validate network model changes; guide GIS and SCADA teams on data flow and model integrity.
  • Lead root cause analysis for recurring or high-impact issues.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and technical guidance to engineers and control room users.
  • Ensure compliance with utility standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NERC CIP, CIP-013, IEEE 1547).

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline. 
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with OSI monarch™ ADMS, preferably within a utility environment. 
  • Deep understanding of electric distribution operations and ADMS functional modules.
  • Proven track record building cyber secure solutions, preferably under NERC CIP standards 
  • Familiarity with scripting (Python, Perl), SQL, and Linux.
  • Familiarity with general (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP) and utility-specific networking protocols (ICCP, DNP3).  
  • Experience working with GIS, AMI, DERMS, or other OT/IT systems. 
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. 

Experience

A minimum of 10 years of related experience is required (if no degree, 14 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling 14 years). 

Education

A bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution is required and a master’s degree in the area of specialty is preferred.

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
