Summary
Lead, design and support the virtual server environment hosted on-premises as well as in the cloud. The Principal Virtualization Systems Engineer works closely with the infrastructure teams and customers to create, manage and architect, the virtual server environments. This includes all areas of virtualization from backups and security to disaster recovery and high availability. This individual will need a high level of communication and problem-solving skills to guide and assist the team on issues related to the configuration and monitoring of mission-critical information systems maximizing service quality for the organization as measured through key indicators.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical leadership in design, deployment & support of virtualization systems architecture to meet demands of the business across multiple data centers.
- Evaluation and implementation of new emerging technologies (ex: hyper-converged infrastructure, Kubernetes container platform).
- Develop technical strategy and solution for automation and self-service of server technologies.
- Analyzes and recommends improvements to existing VMWare, vSAN, & Kubernetes environments to improve performance, usability, and customer experience across the enterprise.
- Works closely and leads team meetings with other infrastructure departments that are dependent on the virtual environment (Storage, Networking, Windows, Linux, Database) to automate common tasks, optimize performance, streamline processes, and troubleshoot issues.
- Develop, maintain and create standards for documentation and diagrams related to builds, implementation procedures, and troubleshooting.
- Provide technical leadership to help grow our other employees in these new technologies
What It Takes To Succeed
- Extensive experience VMware, vSAN, vRealize suite of products (vROPs, vRA/vRO, LogInsight) is a must. Kubernetes and HPE Synergy experience is desired.
- Ability to write simple to moderately complex scripts and programs for automation, tools, frameworks, dashboards, JavaScripts, REST API, and PowerShell.
- Guides others in resolving complex issues in own specialized area and solves complex problems with implications on cross-functional business processes and outcomes.
- Serves as an advisor and applies knowledge of strategies that can be deployed within own function and discipline.
- Applies working knowledge of the theories and concepts in other disciplines. May lead teams or projects with broad visibility.

Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
