Summary

Interfaces with customers, engineers, outside agencies, supervisors, and managers concerning electric distribution and transmission services available from SRP.  Evaluates, analyzes, and implements productivity tools, including hardware, software, and training. Develops and provides technical instruction and production support to improve automation efforts and performance. Reviews designs for completeness, accuracy, and quality. Prepares cost estimates and performs project management functions on complex projects. Assists in system development/enhancements.

What You'll Do

  • Provides a single point of contact for scheduled outages and energization of electric distribution facilities.
  • Reviews customers' design data to establish applicable SRP service and adequacy for SRP design.
  • Reviews plans of outside agencies, public improvement districts, and private developers to resolve conflicts with existing SRP facilities.
  • Provides liaison between SRP and outside engineers, architects, and construction professionals for interpreting SRP's rules and regulations.
  • Protects SRP's capital investment by administering cost policies, rate schedules, and reviewing cost estimates to establish accurate proposals.
  • Prepares and conducts training of resources to improve their skills in preparation for more complex assignments and subsequent advancement.
  • Assists other SRP departments in investigation and resolution of customer electric service problems, hazards, and easement encroachments.
  • Assists the labor and material in the design, construction, and maintenance of distribution systems.
  • Fills in for the Division Supervisor as requested.
  • Serves as technical consultant for design team regarding design and costing decisions.
  • Arbitrates customers, design, construction, and maintenance conflicts.
  • Provides input in performance reviews.
  • Assigns projects to design team with regard to individual capabilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What It Takes To Succeed

Extensive customer contact outside SRP, including consulting engineers, municipalities, and developers.  Confidentiality requirements both within and outside SRP. Knowledge of the development community activities.  Responsibility for scheduling and meeting scheduled commitments for self and others. Represents SRP on external committees with other utilities, agencies, municipalities, manufactures, and customers.

Experience

A minimum of 7 years of experience. Of the 7 years experience, 2 years are required as a Senior Design Consultant, Senior Designer, Engineer, or other experience appropriate for the assignment or equivalent experience.

Education

Completion of an Associate's degree, Apprenticeship, or 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Testing and Certifications

Must possess the appropriate valid Arizona driver’s license.

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona. We are taking steps to protect the health and well-being of all team members, and by following a number of health and safety protocols, to reduce the risk of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
