Job Brief

SRP is currently recruiting entry-level engineers for full time positions to begin a unique and fulfilling career as part of the rotational engineering program. The program exposes participants to a variety of departments and business activities. Fifty plus departments across the company participate in the program, including Distribution Maintenance Engineering, Substation Design, Transmission Planning, Environmental Services, natural gas, coal and hydro generation plants, renewable and sustainability initiatives, Water Measurement Services and Water Engineering and Groundwater to name a few. This program is a two-year program with four, six-month rotations in the various participating departments. Engineering majors currently under consideration include;  electrical, mechanical, civil, and chemical.

 

While on the program, each Rotational Engineer will be assigned a mentor from SRP's Management team and in addition to daily activities, will participate in bi-monthly activities with others on the program. 

 

The Rotational Engineer position will begin in either January 2024 or July 2024 depending on graduation date.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs engineering design work and engineering studies.
  • Performs as engineering project leader.
  • Prepares specifications and evaluates bids.
  • Prepares recommendation material for management consideration.
  • Administers and reviews work performed by consultants and others.
  • Prepares and/or conducts written and oral reports and presentations.
  • Performs field engineering work
  • Performs engineering analyses.
  • Design and/or codes computer programs.

Education

Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution, ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) or any state or internationally recognized PE registration.

Experience

Previous, post-degree experience will be evaluated during the placement process.

Additional Information

  • Responsible for project budgets and schedules.
  • Occasional contacts with customers and outside agencies.
  • Contacts with suppliers of equipment and services.
  • Travel to suppliers facilities, industry organizational functions and SRP facilities varies with position.  Travel can be limited/occasional in some positions.  In others it can be frequent or of extended duration. 
  • Some positions require periodic extended hours, and weekend/evening work.
  • Ability to work effectively with various organizational groups within SRP.
  • Ability to use engineering tools required for the job (i.e., computer, test equipment, etc.).

Certifications or Testing Required

Must possess the appropriate valid Arizona driver’s license.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
