Summary

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, reconciling account balances, maintaining the general ledger, generating and interpreting accounting reports, navigating and utilizing accounting systems, providing accounting recommendations, supporting budgeting processes, performing compliance activities, and participating in audits and period‑end close procedures. This role is essential in ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of the organization’s accounting records and reports.

What You'll Do

  • Complete timely reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts
  • Prepare analyses and reports for internal stakeholders
  • Serve as liaison between corporate accounting and other departments
  • Monitor A/R Aging, damage claims and reimbursables
  • Administer unclaimed property (escheat) process including coordinating with third parties
  • Complete routine A/R functions (e.g., A/R in-box, invoicing, resolving business issues, etc.)
  • Execute recurring banking and clearing tasks, including posting and clearing activities
  • Monitor and account for various accounting reserves and recommend accounting adjustments
  • Support and participate in period-end close processes and annual budgeting cycle
  • Record journal entries and maintain appropriate support
  • Support internal controls compliance
  • Provide procedural and technical support and advice within the organization
  • Participate in corporate SAP S/4 ERP implementation and upgrade efforts
  • Support compliance efforts (e.g., grants, unclaimed property compliance and reporting, etc.)
  • Assist with subsidiary and affiliate accounting and reporting
  • Support and help coordinate internal and external audits and information requests
  • Develop and maintain back-up capabilities by engaging in knowledge sharing and training efforts
  • Identify opportunities for process changes and improvements where appropriate
  • Complete other miscellaneous projects and ad hoc assignments

Education

A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is required.

Experience

We are targeting a Sr. Level for this role

 

• For a Level 1 (Associate), a minimum of no previous years of experience to two years related experience is required.

 

• For a Level 2 (Journey), a minimum of two years of experience to four years related experience is required.

 

• For a Level 3 (Senior), a minimum of five years of related experience is required.

Additional Requirements and Qualifications

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in a business or relevant analytical field of study, including, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Management Information Systems, or related field.

  • Desire to acquire expertise within assigned areas and learn about the organization
  • SAP ERP experience including an understanding of I/O and WBS structures is advantageous
  • Proficient in MS Excel and other MS Office Suite applications
  • Relevant utility industry experience and knowledge is helpful
  • Large ERP experience (SAP Preferred) 
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA, etc.) helpful

Testing and Certifications

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
