Summary

Salt River Project (SRP), the nation’s third largest public power electric utility is seeking a current college junior or senior for its Federal Affairs Internship program in SRP’s Washington, DC office. The Washington, D.C. office represents SRP at the federal level and advocates on a wide array of issues important to SRP and its customers and shareholders.

Internship Program Start and End Dates:

Start Date: May 2025

End Date: August 2025

What You'll Do

Attend Congressional hearings and report out your key takeaways.

Research Federal legislation and produce written summaries and reports.

Monitor media stories.

Produce written summaries and reports.

Assist with event planning and support.

Assist with administrative support and other office duties.

What It Takes To Succeed

Must be enrolled in at least junior or senior year of undergraduate studies. Open to graduate students as well.

SRP requires its college interns to be enrolled a minimum of 6 hours each semester

Cumulative GPA is 3.0 or above

Experience

Interest in learning about energy and water-related issues and their corresponding policy challenges and solutions

Highly motivated and results oriented with a desire to exceed expectations

Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

Attention to detail and quick learner

Ability to work independently on in office setting

Familiarity with MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Photoshop training is a plus.

29.5 hours / 4 days a week, Monday thru Thursday. Fridays are optional depending on the Congressional schedule.

Education

College level coursework (100+) from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.
