Summary

Assists Senior Director in office operations, including developing and implementing departmental plans, office procedures and serves as office liaison with SRP headquarters.  Represents SRP Federal Affairs with internal and external audiences on varying projects. Effectively communicates at all levels of the government and company. Prepares and submits SRP's lobbying disclosure compliance reports. Monitors and analyzes congressional legislation, regulatory policy, and related activities affecting water and energy issues. Assists Federal Affairs team in identifying, developing, and implementing water and energy policy to advance SRP.

***This position is based at our Washington DC location***

Experience

For Senior Level:  Minimum five years utility-related experience in planning, environmental affairs, public affairs or finance preferred.  Must be highly specialized in the area of utility regulation, economics and operations, especially as it relates to climate change, reregulation, rate structures and utility financing requirements.

 

Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years experience at Level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor.  Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three years experience at Level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

 

5 years of office experience and government or utility experience is preferred.

What You'll Do

  • Assists the Senior Director in the development, communication, and implementation of plans, policies, and procedures for SRP Federal Affairs.
  • Serves as the office liaison to SRP headquarters for WDC office operations and support. 
  • Participates in trade association and coalition briefings to monitor and report on relevant government legislation and regulation updates. Assists in organizing and provides support for SRP cross-functional meetings, working closely with subject-matter experts.
  • Reviews invoices and the department’s expense reports, ensuring adherence to SRP policies. Serves as budget coordinator for Federal Affairs and works closely with SRP headquarters.
  • Assists Federal Affairs team in developing SRP strategic positions on current and emerging issues
  • Sustains a network of contacts from the government and private sector to effectively communicate processes.
  • Prepares quarterly federal lobbying reports.
  • Requires some travel.

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.
